Who's Watching Who? Maybe them

Lately, I get anxious about the possibility of there could be someone watching me from my devices. The generation today is very different- we have an advanced type of technology,Wherein hacking is very common, but not that legal and I think what's worse is that someone could be watching you to blackmail or manipulate you to do things you don't want to, just because of what they saw through the camera's of your device.(Spoiler alert!)

If you have watched the episode 3 "Shut up and dance" from season 3 of Black Mirror. The protagonist of the story have experienced this; he accidentally downloaded a purported Malware, and was manipulated by the hackers, just to watch him and the others to do things the hacker tells them, this leds to actions that is dangerous and there were unpleasant results to him and his family. He was not only the victim but also the others.

Imagine if your in that situation, maybe you'll do the same, or not. Since we are aware of this, though some may not , I read some articles regarding this topic. According to Friberg there are some ways to avoid and to know if someone might be watching you. These are the tips of Friberg listed below:

"To know if someone  might be watching"

  • Step 1: Check the indicator light.
  • Step 2: See if your webcam process is running.
  • Step 3: Check if any application uses the webcam.
  • Step 4: Run a malware scan.

" To Avoid Webcams to be accessed easily "

    • #1: Enable firewall.
    • #2: Use an antivirus software.
    • #3: Don’t get into a phishing trap.
    • #4: Be vigilant.
    • #5: Stay secure on Wi-Fi networks.
    • #6: Cover your webcam.

These are the safest ways, especially covering the cameras of your devices. Also, it's a must to have an anti virus. Because, Not just because you cover the camera of your device means safe. How about the files inside your device? It's better to be safe than sorry.
